Writing More Checks - February 15th, 2010

When it comes to checks unlimited is sometimes the name of the game. Now most of us don’t use checks anymore. It seems like no stores really accept personal checks, and let’s be honest, it’s much easier to use a credit card. But considering the fact that so many Americans are in debt in part because a credit card or debt card is that easy to use, obviously enough there’s a problem. There are more unemployed than ever before, and while we should keep track of things anyway, the fact is that we should keep better track of things anyway.

So what do you do? I mean checks cost money obviously, and there are various things in general to worry about. But in the long term, to me at least, it seems that you are going to get far greater savings than you will spend on the checks themselves. It’s like investing in a good budgeting program. If it doesn’t work, well you wasted that much money. But if it does, you invested that money and got so much more back from it in the end by using it after that basically for free. There aren’t really monthly charges with those.

So how do checks unlimited help? Well, at least for me, it seems like we think of checks as an old fashioned statement. And who can blame us? Yes, my parents used checks more than I do. But they also have better budgeting habits and a better credit score than I do. So obviously we all have a little something to learn. They do have business checks as do I, which companies in general are actually more willing to take, because they think they are more dependable.

But in general terms, checks unlimited can give you unlimited choices. By this I mean, we think of things a lot of times in terms of how fun it is. Checks can have all sorts of designs and otherwise be “fun.” And frankly, really when it comes right down to it, balancing a checkbook is something we could all afford to learn how to do in this day and age.
